Notable Games

1935 - The Mustangs and Horned Frogs entered the game as probaly the top 2 programs in the nation and would square off in what was labed the "Game of the Century". Led by standout QB Sammy Baugh, TCU entered the game 11-0 while SMU was 10-0. The winner would win the SWC and a trip to play Stanford in the Rose Bowl. SMU would prevail 20-14, but go on to lose to Stanford 7-0. TCU would go to the Sugar Bowl and triump over LSU 3-2. Because there was no AP Poll for another year, both SMU and TCU claimed national championships that year.

1947 - The Doak Walker led Mustangs went to Fort Worth ranked #3 in the nation and looking to be considered for the national championship. The Frogs spoiled those plans by scoring late to tie the game at 19-19 and ruining the Ponies title hopes.

2011 - After losing 10 of the last 11 meetings in the series, the Mustangs came to Fort Worth and stunned the #20 ranked Frogs 40-33 in overtime. It also ended TCU's 22 home game winning streak.

After Saturday nights Iron Skillet showdown in Fort Worth, the two teams are only scheduled for home-and-home games up until 2017.
